The Severna Park Farmers Market ends its 2026 season on October 31. That leaves the Park & Ride lot at Ritchie Highway and Jones Station Road without its Saturday-morning market for the off-season. This year the off-season starts differently. Two morning spots opened on the same stretch of Route 2 in September, a day apart, and one of them was planned with the market in mind.
Y'ollk Bakery's co-owner told the Severna Park Voice she intends to buy produce from the farmers market. The bakery opened in the market's final weeks, so this winter is its first stretch without it. Its new neighbor at Park Plaza, Toastique, opens on a different schedule. Together the two now cover the Saturday hours the market used to fill.
The market's 2026 rhythm matched last year's. The Severna Park Voice reported an April 25 opening at the Park & Ride on Ritchie Highway at Jones Station Road, running Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. The market's vendor booking page lists the season as April 25 through October 31. The location, the day and the four-hour window were all the same as in the 2025 season.
That gave the market 28 Saturdays of 8-to-noon hours. From November 7 on, that block of time moves to storefronts.
Y'ollk Bakery held its grand-opening ribbon cutting on September 19 at 489 Ritchie Highway, Suite 101. The opening came after a long buildout. Co-owner Basaran "Bas" Mulgan oversaw construction, which started from nothing because the space had been a retail store, according to the Severna Park Voice's profile of the bakery.
Mulgan and Marie Cris Garay met while working at a catering company. Garay took cooking classes at Anne Arundel Community College and found cake decorating in a baking and pastry course. Mulgan was a chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, and has worked alongside French and Michelin-starred chefs. In the same profile, Mulgan said Garay is the one "running the show."
Garay explained to the Voice why she chose this town:
"I wanted to (open) in Severna Park because we don't have a local bakery – like, artisan, where you make everything from scratch, intentional. Like you put your heart into it."
The name combines egg yolks, a basic of baking, with "y'all," a signal that the bakery is meant for everyone.
The connection to the market is right there in the bakery's approach to ingredients. Garay told the Voice she plans to source produce from the Severna Park farmers' market. She is also limiting preservatives and food dyes, and keeping sweetness low so flavors like yuzu come through. Pastries are made fresh every day in small batches, and nothing is frozen.
The menu starts from traditional baking and French-inspired technique, then adds Filipino and Turkish flavors from the owners' home countries. A few items set it apart from anything else on Ritchie Highway:
Mulgan expects to add more Mediterranean flavors to the savory menu. Garay said most of the front-of-house staff are students, by design. When fully staffed, the bakery will employ about 16 people, and in early October it was still hiring, especially bakers.
That staffing affects the hours. As of the Voice's October 1 profile, Y'ollk was on a temporary schedule, open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bakery points customers to its Facebook and Instagram for updates, and those will be the first place a longer schedule shows up.
Toastique held its ribbon cutting on September 18, the day before Y'ollk's, at 580 Ritchie Highway, Suite K, in Park Plaza. The Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce joined the owners for the ceremony. Franchise owners Allyson and Mo Jishi opened the Annapolis Toastique in 2024, which makes Severna Park their second location in the county. Eye On Annapolis reported that the local franchise group also includes Chris Deli and John Brenner, and that Allyson Jishi first came across the concept in Washington, D.C.
The menu is toasts, bowls, smoothies, fresh-pressed juices, coffee and tea, protein waffles and grab-and-go items. According to Toastique's Severna Park page, the shop is open every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For Saturday mornings, that 7 a.m. opening matters. It's an hour earlier than the market's first bell and two hours earlier than Y'ollk's door.
| Stop | Address | Saturday hours | Runs through |
|---|---|---|---|
| Severna Park Farmers Market | Park & Ride, Ritchie Hwy at Jones Station Rd | 8 a.m. to noon | October 31 |
| Toastique | 580 Ritchie Hwy, Suite K, Park Plaza | 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Monday through Sunday |
| Y'ollk Bakery | 489 Ritchie Hwy, Suite 101 | 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Wed through Sun, temporary schedule as of Oct. 1 |
Between them, the two cafes cover the market's whole 8-to-noon window and stay open into the afternoon. Y'ollk is the only one with a direct line to the market. It is also the only one that closes Mondays and Tuesdays, so a weekday pastry run comes down to the day of the week.
Two more morning and lunch tenants were announced for this corridor in March. Paris Baguette leased a 2,889-square-foot space at Park Plaza, 550 Ritchie Highway, and Eye On Annapolis reported a summer 2026 target. McAlister's Deli signed for 586 Ritchie Highway, the former Café Rio building, with fall 2026 given as the expected opening, Citybiz reported.
In late October, neither chain's own location list showed a Severna Park store. Paris Baguette's locator did not include 550 Ritchie Highway among its Maryland entries. McAlister's Maryland page listed three Maryland locations, in Baltimore, Hanover and Mount Airy. For now, both remain announcements. Toastique is the Park Plaza morning tenant that is actually open.
The off-season has one known break. For the past two years, a Christmas Market has run at the same Park & Ride on a December Saturday, keeping the market's 8-to-noon hours. The Severna Park Voice listed the 2024 edition for December 14. A vendor's calendar listed the 2025 winter and holiday market for December 13. A 2026 date hasn't been announced.
The rest of December already has dates. These come from the Severna Park Voice's 2026 save-the-dates roundup, published in February, and from the Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails events page. Organizers can still change details, so check with them before you head out.
The B&A Trail has one more project in the works. Anne Arundel County lists the Caraker Memorial Plaza, at 2 Riggs Avenue on the trail, as "In Design." The plans include expanded access, bike racks, seating and landscaping. When the county page was last updated in May 2026, scope and bids were still being evaluated. Y'ollk and Toastique are already open.
