Local Lifestyle

Annapolis is a lively, bustling city full of vibrancy and great eateries so it’s no shock that young professionals are flocking here for the easy commute into Washington D.C or Baltimore. There are great dining, shopping, and nightlife for the young couples but also quieter sections of town for those who appreciate city-living but don’t need to be in the heart of the action. In Severna Park, the demographics are mostly families who want to take advantage of the larger property sizes, athletic programs for kids, and welcoming community.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

There is certainly no shortage of fantastic dining options in Annapolis; regardless of what mood or craving you are having, there is something for every taste preference. Ethnic eats, comfort food, fine dining, and quick meals are available at a number of highly-rated establishments throughout the city. Some local favorites include Boatyard Bar and Grill, Blackwall Hitch, Bread and Butter Kitchen, Vin 909 Winecraft, Wayfinder’s Wharf, O’Leary’s (amazing seafood!!), Chick & Ruth’s Deli and Osteria 177.

In Severna Park, the Severna Park Taphouse and the Brian Boru Restaurant & Pub are both local favorites and great places to watch a Ravens game!

Westfield Annapolis, known as the Annapolis Mall, is the main shopping hub for those living in Annapolis MD. It has gone through recent renovations and is fully updated with a hip, family-friendly vibe, and even features an 11-screen movie theater.

The Annapolis Towne Center is known as a “lifestyle complex” meaning it features condos for rent on its upper floors and stores and restaurants on its ground floor such as Whole Foods, Target, and many other great restaurants, workout studios, and shops here.

Downtown is also a great place for retail therapy; there are many boutique and local stores to choose from on the picturesque and historic streets of Annapolis!

Things to Do

Quiet Waters Park is one of the best parks in all of Maryland; the 340-acre escape is packed full of things to do from ice skating to paved walking trails, to boat rentals, to playgrounds and picnic areas. This is a beloved relic of the Annapolis area! Similarly, Sandy Point State Park is 786 acres of land located along the Chesapeake Bay with views of the Bay Bridge. The park features a large beach, multiple picnic areas and is home to many events throughout the year such as the Polar Bear Plunge.

Beaches are a great pastime and activity in the summer for area residents and there are many community beaches scattered all around such as Olde Severna Park. Truxtun Park is located on Spa Creek and features a boat launch, a recreation center, walking trails, and a seasonal pool with classes.

History buffs love walking around the Annapolis Historic District and soaking up the rich stories of the American Revolution here in the city. Sports enthusiasts will love going to Navy football games and tailgating with fellow fans. And of course, Annapolis is not too far from Baltimore for Ravens games in the fall!

Schools

The Annapolis region offers a diverse range of public and private schools to meet everyone’s needs; we recommend doing your research if education is important to you since there are lots of public and private school options in the area! The Anne Arundel County Public School system governs education from preschool through grade 12 and includes many great schools in the area. Top-rated private institutions Key School and Severn School are also in the area as well as St. Mary’s and St. Anne’s School of Annapolis.
